Batumi Film Festival to screen Iranian short ‘Umbra’

The Batumi Int'l Art House Film Festival is to screen Iranian short ‘Umbra’.

The Batumi International Art House Film Festival (BIAFF) in Georgia has set to screen Iranian short ‘Umbra’.

Directed by Saeed Jafarian and produced by Iranian actor Rambod Javan, the film will be screened at the short film competition section of the Georgian event.

‘Umbra’ is about a young woman who realizes a few minutes after midnight that she is with no one. Worried, she goes out in the darkness of the streets.

It has previously taken part at the Cinéfondation section of the 71st Cannes Film Festival, the 2018 Vila do Conde Film festival in Portugal, the 17th Silhouette Film Festival in France, and the 42nd Toronto International Short Film Festival in Canada.

The mission of the BIAFF is to be an international event designed to enhance cultural exchange, understanding, and collaboration through the screening of new art house-house and non-commercial films from Georgia and abroad.

The event provides an opportunity for well-known filmmakers, producers and film critics to meet and share their expertise and works with other people in their respective fields and gives local cinema lovers and other individuals a better understanding of the industry and its people through retrospectives.

The BIAFF is also focused on providing a quality educational opportunity for those people interested in film and cinematography.

The 2018 edition of the BIAFF is slated for September 16-24 in Batumi.
